On Monday night, I had the opportunity to attend Usher and Tidal’s “Hard II Love” exclusive listening event at the Ace Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles. I knew that this would be an event that I’d enjoy because I love to hear all about the behind-the-scenes making of an album. Usher has been around for so long and I have a ton respect for his music.
During the playback session, Usher revealed the exact vision that he had for the album. My favorite thing is that he revealed who the album was created for.
“I really did cater this album to men, specifically men who don’t think love is cool to do,” Usher told Real 92.3 Big Boy.
At the event, Usher explained to the audience that there isn’t a lot of music out there that speaks positively about love, and if you want to listen to good R&B love songs you have to go back in time.
The event was so intimate and honest, which made it such an indescribable event to be in attendance. I learned a lot about Usher that I wasn’t aware of before this playback session. Now, when I listen to the “Hard II Love” album, I’ll have memories of the event and reflect on getting to hear all about Usher’s creative process behind the album.
Stay tuned for more of my adventures in Los Angeles!
